Transport & Utility Weekend
Two BIG utility and transport aircraft open for climb-aboard
"Climb Aboard" these vintage aircraft, and learn about their history from the crews who lovingly restored them.
This month we are showcasing two of our BIGGEST aircraft, the Grumman HU-16 Albatross amphibian and the Ilyushin Il-14 "Crate." The Albatross was designed as a search and rescue aircraft and amphibious transport. "Amphibious" means it could land on either water or the ground. The Il-14 was designed and built by Soviet design bureau Ilyushin behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War, and served reliably as a transport aircraft for many years.
